Hey guys!

So, we're getting a new apartment this summer, and I may (If I find I can afford it) set up my empty 20 gallon as a show tank in our 'living room'. However, I was, more or less, unsure about the stocking and compatability of the fish.

My plan has jumped around, from tetras, to guppies, to even a damsel. However the idea I settled on was a tank of Odessa Barbs, with a couple of Dwarf Gouramis for contrast.
However the problems I have include not knowing if these fish could peacefully co-exist, and if the numbers -
6-8 Odessa Barbs
2 Dwarf Gouramis
Will work out. As far as I knew, the barbs were a less agressive breed, but I can't say I've found any real information to back this up. Also on that note, I failed to find a reliable temperature range for them.

So, ultimately, I'm asking if this could work. Any and all reasons why or why not are welcome, as the sooner I figure it out, the sooner I can make the changes, or try to incorporate the budget. Suggestions are also quite welcome.

Thanks in advance.

If you get two dwarf gourami's I suggest you get three. 1 male and 2 females. two males may be okay together in 20 gallons I don't know but I tried it for a week (quarantine) in a ten gallon and in two days one was dead from the aggression. snuck up on me too. They seemed to be doing ok and then one night I noticed one of the dg's antenae things were both gone. I guess I should've moved them to my 55 then but I was afraid of disease. The next morning one dg was dead the other was swimming around triumphantly.
