well tonight im getting my 20 gallon high, and im putting my 4 dwarf platys and 3 female bettas in. what else can i get? since its high idk if i can get neon tetras. any suggestions?

because a high tank means less spread out room and the fish may be crammed
Bettas use the upper half, platies use the upper half, neons use the lower half.

BTW what is a dwarf platy?
All strains that I know off get to similar sizes if well reared.

Dwarf platies are a smaller strain of platys, in the livebearer section someone already asked about it so take a look! and thanks about the neons, ill get 6 i think.

umm a DWARF platy is a smaller platy hence the name DWARF platy, thnak you :D

you should get a shrimp or 2 and go for neons only after you cycle... i went through it... bad sight

im switching my 5.5 gallon + 10 gallon to this 20 gallon, so i have to have the other fish in. also i have 2 amano shrimp going into it so thats already there, and im adding maybe 3 more.

Once you've moved the fish & their existing filter & decor wait at least three weeks before adding more fish.

From my research "dwarf platies" are inbred strains that grow slower but most sold are just younger fish - it's a marketing gimmick. It would be interesting to see what size they could attain if any live a full lifespan of 4+ years.
A bit like the tanks of runts when generations have been allowed to inbreed.

If you allow two strains to interbreed the offspring could well grow to full size.

I have a 20 gallon high. The dimensions of the bottom are 2 feet by 1 foot. I think that is enough room for neons. I am not giving advice on stocking here, but I don't see any reason why that wouldn't be enough room for a neon to stretch out and have a decent swim. They are smaller than some of the other fish you're putting in there. :dunno:
