20 Gallon High- Stocking

hey
i was just wondering what sort of American chichilids i could put in my tank. i really want a oscar but cant afford a bigger tank.
any ideas would be great thanks

For a 20g dwarf cichlids would be an ideal choice, such as German Blue Rams,Bolivian Rams etc.

Are you wanting to keep a species tank or a community?

i dont like rams. i was thinking more of a species tank. i wouldn't mind if i just had one fish, any ideas would be great.
by the way i was wondering if i could put two tanks together, not glue them together but run the same water through then so that the ammonia content would be more dilute. pretty much turning a 20g into a 40g but the fish would only have the same space to move in. so would it have any advantages?
