Heres the equipement:
20 Gallon High Tank
Coralife 28watt unit giving me 1.4wpg
aquaclear 30
some bogwood, whitish rocks, and brown gravel

Right now all I have in there is some javafern which is thriving, but I need to make a setup that will not require too much maintenance as I travel a lot.

I need a list of plants that will do well with my setup. I can add root tabs, and some flourish every once in a while, but no co2.

So if you guys could list some plants, and small fish that will do well in this tank it would be great. Right now I have a couple tiger barbs that will be given away.

Thanks!

Thanks :)

This tank used to be high tech, don't know if anyone remembers my threads, but if I were to go high light, 3.25wpg to be exact(I also have a 65 watt coralife unit), and added co2, what type of fert regimen would I need? Would 2x a week doses of Seachem Flourish sufice along with root tab every couple months?

I doubt it. I take it you know about EI? Its generally regarded as an excellent regime for high light tanks. Although I would add that others exist, such as the seachem range of macros and micros and the ADA way of doing things. But both are either expensive and/or need lots of testing.

Ok, but if I were to add co2 to a low light tank wouldn't that create a need for more nutrients thus causing me to have to add more ferts anyway? The main problem for me would be adding daily ferts and constant testing, that why I leaned toward low light this go around. Unlike most people, co2 is not really a problem for me, my nutrafin canister and diffuser work great, but when I'm not home daily ferts is going to be a problem.

So basically, if I went with 1.4wpg, co2 and weekly additions of Seachem Flourish would that be viable?

Because as far as i've seen, co2 seems to be the biggest growth enhancer.

Light tends to increase the uptake of nutrients and CO2. CO2 doesnt, or atleast not nearly as much as light.

Sorry, so you've down graded the tan to low light? Missed that bit sorry

In which case flourish and root tabs would be fine for a low light. As Fred says light drives the nutrient uptake process not CO2 (to a certain extent anyway).
