Would a 20 gallon tank be big enough for 2 African Cichlids? I do not know the scientific name but the description says they only get 4-6 inches long when full grown. If yes, what other fish, if any, could I put in along with the Cichlids.
Thanks in advance!

not malawis, but tanganikyans yes, but they must be kept in a species only tank and no fish exceeding 4 inches should be kept in there.

Hi,
without the id of the fish its hard to say But in the main most african cichlids will require a larger tank and will need to be kept in a much bigger number so that the dominant one doesn't kill off the lesser one.

2 Kribensis would be just about ok in a 20G
or a large group of shell dwelling multis

What if I just got 1 Cichlid....or do they NEED to be in groups?

What fish is it?
Most african cichlids NEED to be kept in large groups or colonies
