Well...bacteria in a bottle seems to have worked.

After 3 days ammonia had dropped to zero, with nitrite already being processed. And one and half weeks later, yes overnight! (or day in this case) Nitrites dropped to zero!

It has worked, yippee!!

I don't whether I'm one of the few that has been lucky, but if you're interested in attempting to speed your cycle up. I used API Stress Zyme plus, following the instructions on the bottle, whilst adding the ammonia as per the beginner resource centre's brilliant instructions!

Yours in fishless cycling,

Axy!

You did the first, 7th and 14th day? I used it on my 70 gallon tank but I need to basically buy a bottle for every session since its not that large. Monday will be day 7 for that tank

Well I haven't done the 14th day, that would have been today. But I'm going to do it tomorrow after I have seen how quickly the nitrite reduces to 0 again. Mine is only a 60l so I don't have that problem!

I hope it works for you, how are your readings going so far?

I tested this morning and its still reading 4-5ppm of ammonia but today is only day 5

It may take longer in your size of tank, or as I said before I may have been lucky...

Best of luck though

I can't wait to finally get some fish, at the moment water is my pet!

I wonder what the difference is between Zyme and Zyme+ I see the regular stuff at the LFS but I only found one bottle of Zyme+. My mom has a bunch of pond stuff she used to cycle that I could steal if I wanna be cheap, just need these tanks good to go asap

It maybe that, I'm a total newbie with fish keeping so I couldn't say one way or another!

Maybe worth a buy, this stuff seems cheap compared to fish keeping as a whole!

Well, I am doing the same thing, but with Dr. Tim's One and Only nitrifying bacteria in a bottle, in a new, small aquarium. Results after 24 hours are impressive - 4 ppm ammonia processed down to 1 ppm, nitrites are 0.50, and nitrates are a solid 5.0. So this looks well on track to be finished in a few days or a week, maybe. My normal fishless cycle time is much longer (70 days).

So no one can tell me that at least some of these products don't work. Looks to me that they have a valid place in the home user market. But I won't post a thread on it until I'm completely finished and satisfied that it worked.

I for one am interested to know if these work for members here.

Editing my comments out since the reason for typing them has been removed. :D

To whom ever removed such posts, I thank you.

I apologise for being short but as Gvilleguy has stated, this is a forum for everyone, regardless of a persons experience. To everyone, I hope your fishless cycles go as well as mine!
