2 tanks put together with overhead light

i will possibly have 2 spare 2ft tanks and im just wondering if i put a overhead light over them both pushed together does it give the same out put of light onto all the plants (as it is a planted aquarium only - no fish) than if i had a 4ft tank?

Well if the light is long enough, why not?

If the light in question is for a 4 foot tank, then i see no reason why it wont work, but if the light in question only covers 2 foot ie. made for a 2 foot tank then it wont work as this will only give so much coverage.

Edit: But i guess it really depends on what plants you are trying to grow, with low light plants you might get away with a smaller light.

I ahve 2 foot tanks pushed together with two 4 foot lights on tp and its works perfectly fine! Go for it!
