ok heres my problem, tank 1 has no plants only rocks and gravel,4 clown loach's one commom plec,no algae at all
tank 2,well planted, diy co2,gravel,5 discus, looks like i have bba,and maybe bga?,lights and water changes are the same for both tanks,so if plants and co2 do stop or at best limit the spread of algae why are my tanks so different
thanks for any help

How do you run the DIY CO2? Unstable CO2 is a big algae trigger, if you aren't getting things right (e.g. using more than one cannister for the yeast/sugar mix) then this could explain the algae.

i use 2 canisters at the same time, and only one canister is changed at a time, for example canistor 1 changed on monday canistor 2 on friday,so each canister is changed on five day intervals so i never let the canisters run out

depends on the size of the canister and the like, but it might be worth reducing the length of time between changes slightly, say 3 or 4 days. With the nutrafin kits and even 2ltre bottles, they tend to take a few days to get going at full pelt, so you maybe getting one winding down as the other is still getting going. If you swap them over a little sooner it might mean theres no/less of a dip in that overlap :)

ok ill swap them over say every four days and see if there is any improvement
thanks for your help
