I took these awhile ago and forgot to post them. Sorry about the water stains.

Thanks for looking.

Nice shots and nice fish! How big are they?

Thanks MAM and Ethos

It's almost 6".
I bought him last December and he was about 3". Here's a blurry pic from about 10 monthes ago, unfortunatly, it's the only older pic I have of it (I wish I knew it's sex, I hate calling the fish "it"):

Looks great , Comet , is he eating .........just about anything you feed him/her :D

Gorgeous fish! I've got a little 3-4 incher myself

It is a labrynth fish (related to bettas) but is not an archer. they are also known as spotted climbing perch as some of the bushfish family are known to leave the water and climb trees.

I have two who have raced from 1" to 3" within 5 months. Great pics of a massively underrated fish. I love the insanely wide mouth they have :hyper:

Thanks for all the nice comments, everyone.

Lucky - He'll eat anything, but his staple is Hikari sinking carnivore pellets.

andywg - I misjudged how big it's mouth was when I added some tiger barbs.

My Son has fed green peas to his , and yes , they ate them .

Their mouths can open quite wide :/

I missed this, these are my favorite anabantoids, yours looks great, mine still have spots all over. When they start to lose the spots it means that they are reaching full maturity, and their adult color is brown. Mine are pigs, and they eat anything that I give them, peas included

Thanks Dwarfs. I'll have to try a pea sometime.

I think these would be an interesting fish to breed. :shifty:
