Hello :)

I have 2 questions:

Question 1

My tank is now cycled and I've had fish for 2 weeks. Everything has been great, measurements all fine but yesterday I spotted a few white spots on 2 Blue Rams and 1 Pearl Gourami. I did a 25-30% water change and added the correct amount of Ich/White Spot medicine. It said to remove the carbon filters so I took them out of my Fluval U3, I put some filter wool in instead, something I'd read to do on a Fluval forum.

I did my tests today and it seems the Ammonia has risen from 0 to nearly 0.25ppm. I'm concerned that removing the carbon pads has reduced the bacterial load, causing the ammonia to rise. What can I do, given that the carbon will filter out the medicine. I'm keeping the carbon filter in the tank water from the water change but I'm aware that the bacteria will still die.

Good news is the number of white spots has already dropped but I'll complete the treatment cycle.

Temperature: 26
pH: 8
Ammonia: 0.25ish
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10

Question 2

I have 2 Cobalt Dwarf Gouramis. In the last week 1 has started bullying the other, ramming it etc, it seems to mainly be after food but doesn't last too long. Should I be worried?

Any advice?

Thanks.

Do a water change, but to some percent where you can easily dose the new water going back in, so you don't dilute the med too much. Does that make sense?

It sounds like the filter's having a mini cycle from removing the carbon; it'll probably soon catch up again.
