ok im puting on the dumpys hat on, i have been reading more books yay but so far not found out how to tell if the pump is set high enuff,
i have a pump/fliter that puts bubbles in the water as well, the bubbles are going from 1 end of the tank to the other and the water on the top is slowly moving around, is there a rule of phum with how high you set the power ive read bout slow moving water and fast for fish but that all it says, all so with the pump to i set it so the water bounces of a side or so it shoots across the lenth of the tank,

other dum question i have pellits and flak food but most of the food sits on top of the water and the fish do not go up to get it what dum thing am i doing wrong
thank you
scott

Firstly, please clean up that grammar, it's truly awful and I honestly had a hard time getting through that post.

Secondly,

Adequate filter = Litres per hour needs to exceed tank litrage by a factor of 3 ATLEAST!

Thirdly: What fish do you have as we cannot guess.

sorry i do my best i have very severa dexsla,
neanos.
the very little manal that came with the fliter did not have that informasion in it would seraching the makers web site help ?

My apologies for my rudeness.
Yes it would indeed be of massive benefit if you knew the LPH (litres per an hour) by looking it up.

You really want a turn over rate of at least 5 times in one hour, this is good for mechanical filtration. However, the beneficial bacteria can grow in in flow rate, as some people on here have filters that are less than 1/2 times turn over rate with tanks flourishing.

The fact is, Autotrophic bacteria will colonize if there is a source of ammonia, and they will adapt to any condition.

How much water you move in your tank is really up to you. One thing though, you want to try to have good water movement/circulation throughout the entire tank to minimize "dead" spots. These dead spots, or "pockets" can hold ammonia in one spot making it hard for the ammonia to get to your filter to be processed by your bacteria.

Also, how much water movement you have in your tank can also depend on what king of fish you have. If you have fish with a large vertical surface area, then odds are they are not going to like a high amount of water movement as the water movement will blow them around.

For the second question, the flake food will sink to the bottom after is sits at the top for a couple minutes, so no need to worry there.
