Hi ,
I don't post here too often as usually my tanks were running ok. but complacency has bit my ass.
I have a small aqua one tank
Tank size:29l
pH:6.0 Used to be about 6.8 but tank is almost a year old now ..
ammonia:0
nitrite:0
nitrate:50
kH:0d
gH:<3d
tank temp:26-27c
Fish
One black phantom tetra (this now has fin rot) I was only thinking last week how well this tank had been running) Changed water (25%) and started Melafix meds . Only noticed yesterday and dorsal fin is down to base . behaviour normal
all other fish appear healthy
Black widow,Beeding heart peaacox rainbow ,zebra danio and two dwarf corydoras.
And yes I know they are shouling fish but I didn't want to overcrowd.

Request Help

Fluval deep running two fluval 3 + filters (thats what came with it so kept it running as it was)
Some live plants but they keep dying
Tank mates when bought
2 danios ( 1 left , one went thin one day died two days later)
1 siam fighter fish
4 glowlights ( all ok)
1 neon (have 5 more . all ok)
1 albino armoured catfish cory(bought one more . that died , then the original, )Both bullied constantly by
1 dwarf gourami (the tank bully. Have bought a female but he seems to chase her as much as the cories, but they're dead now.

Problem being A.

Were the albino cories not suitable or could the bullying been a large factor . If so how do I try to reduce it.

B. The tank has had a green blanket algea problem which i'm doing 25% water changes gravel syphoning off and reduced lights to 6 hours daily

Both tanks seem to have soft water which reduce ph buffering as they won't go above yellow on my test kit (ph)Should I add some stone of some kind

Any answer or opinions taken thank you

Bullying causes stress on a fish.
If the finrot down to the base not good.
I would add some myxazin to the tank instead of the melafix.

the gourami and neons are not a good mix with the betta. especially the gourami. The neons will nip the betta's fins and the betta will mistake the gourami for another betta and fight. Have you noticed any fin problems with the betta or it staying in one corner of the tank? It sounds like you have an aggressive gourami and it may be bullying the betta too.

I agree with above reply.

Thanks
The Gourami doesn't take any notice of the neons.
It does take notice of the siamese but he will either ignore , stay out of way or swim toward gourami only if the gourami has swam up to him,as if tosay I don't think so.but without any contact. The neons don't appear to go for its fins at all.. The siamese I Feel doesn't treat the gourami as an opponant.Any ideas on suitable bottom feeders/or algea eaters that will suit tank conditions and aren't too big

I would ask in the plec section they will be willing to help you over there.
Good luck.
