Hi

although my platies have had fry before I have never used a breeding trap of any kind as I haven't known enough about it all. I'm about to go off and read the two pinned topics at the top of this forum again to refresh my memory but I have just transfered 2 white mickey mouse platies into a single breeding net. Is this ok? I spent ages trying to work out which one looked the more pregnant but I just cant tell.

What course of action should I take??

I never like moving females from one tank to another but if that is the only option, yes it should be ok, as long as they are both females. Otherwise, the male will stress the heck out of the female in that little space!

Even better option, do you have access to large amount of plants or/and some decorations where fries can hide? If so, the best option is to keep the adults in this tank, so that you don't need to move the female each time they are pregnant...

I have only the one tank which has some plants in it. They have had babies twice before that I am aware of and just left them in the main tank. All the fry must have became fish food as I've only ever seen 1 fry which was in the filter - he disappeared too.

I've got tiger barbs, 10 of them, and boy can they eat!!
