Ok, 2 of my sorority girls are infected with popeye, and I think one of them also has an infection, as I am seeing stringy white poos. I have them both quarentined, but my question is this: What should I do about the sorority tank? Sound I treat the whole tank like I would the 2 that have it, or should I just treat it with salt? I think I need to treat the whole tank like they all have popeye, but I was wondering what you guys thought.

Thank you!

Ok I just took out each of my girls and inspected them...it looks like 2 more *might* have it. So I decided to treat the whole tank, for the popeye and for parasites, just in case. I want to make sure my girls are healthy!

Thank you! What makes me mad is this mess is *totally* my fault. The one that started it, Scarlet, when I got her (I bought her off of ebay) I thought her eyes looked a little big for a betta's. I should have quarentined her then. But did I go with my gut? Nooooooooooo of COURSE not! Ugh! I can be such an idiot sometimes. So yeah, I put her in my tank, and now everything is infected. The lesson of the day? Always trust your gut and quarentine new fish if you are putting them in a community. Trust me, I have learned.

Ok, just a quick update. The female that *started* it doesn't have stringy poo, but in fact has fungas! I took a closer look at her later and I found it a bunch of white stringy stuff underneath her belly. So I have her alone, and the rest are in the 29. So what I am doing is this:
-Treating both tanks with salt and Maracyn-2.
-Treating her with Maracyn since I don't see any signs of fungas in the other tank. I think I pulled her just in time. If I do see signs, then I will treat them too.

This is SUCH a mess. Ugh. :(

Anyway, just thought I'd update anyone who is reading this thread.

The female that is seriously infected, is starting to heal up nicely! Her fungas is going away, and I see normal poos on the bottom of the tank, so that is good! She's swimming around alot, which is good too. She's getting there! I think the popeye is going to be difficult one to cure.

The other girls seem to be doing good. Their tank is cloudy from the meds, but other than that, it's fine. On Thursday I'm going to pull them all out and take a look at them.

Sounds like you have everything under control.
I hope all of your girls are gonna be ok!

Thank you, I am trying! They are really starting to improve now, so I think everyone will fine. :)

Thanks for responding to my post!

Everyone keeps improving! Last night I did a 90% water change in Scarlet's (the one in isolation) tank, and she looks alot better today. The fungas is nearly gone. However, I am going to do another round of Maracyn-2 for the popeye, as that is not gone yet. Tonight I am cleaning the 29 gal. and will be manually checking all the girls tonight for popeye. If they are all fine, then I will stop that treatment. I have seen no sign of fungas in that tank, so that is good.

So things are improving!

I see alot of people are reading this... so I am going to post another update.

I inspected everyone of of the other 6 girls tonight. Only 1 looks like she *may* still be infected. Besides Scarlet, she had it the worst. So I have them each in a 2.5 gallon. I'm going to start a new round of Maracyn-2 for them plus Maracyn for Scarlet. She is still showing traces of fungas, but much better than Sunday!

I'll post another update as soon! :)

I just thought I'd post and let everyone know who is reading this that the girls recovered. There is no sign of disease, and now that are happily back in their tank. Scarlet looks better now than when I got her!
