Hi i need help, i went to my LFS today in search of small algae eaters, after the donation of my large pleco this was priority, i heard alot of praise about otto's but i noticed these really tiny pleco look-a-likes that are only about an inch long, and they grow to about 3". 4" max. But as the dickhead i am i forgot the name of them, does anyone know?

Ancistrus - The genus Ancistrus contains more than 50 species, one of the most species-rich genera in the family Loricariidae.

Hence, odds are that you have some common bristlenose plecs there

Common plecs can grow enormous yep - I had a pair and they shot up to 10 inches in no time - my Uncle has an 18" plec
They could be bristlenoses but they grow to 6 inches.
Any photos - might be able to tell from them - I have a load of baby bristlies at the mo.

i cant get any photos yet coz they only just went in a hour or so ago so they are being shy.

jim I don't think dark or light brown matters all that much. I've seen light and dark brown common bristlenoses.

Erm not really, these are just tiny tiny little things, il get a photo today when i get the chance.
