Hi all,

My tank (75lt) is now about a 1month running. I cycled it with 4 platys. Lat week I added 3 guppies and 2 upside down catfish.

The following day I found 1 dead platy, seemed intact. Then 1 of the catfish went missing, 2 days later (I thought it was just out of sight somewhere) I noticed its corpse, with ALL the flesh eaten off it (is that normal)!!

I've now been noticing that 1 of my guppies tends to chase the others alot (almost constantly) and I'm wondering whether it could have killed the other 2 fish (stress!)? and whether I should remove it for the greater good of the tank.

Any suggestions gladly accepted.

Cheers

it is fairly normal for dead fish to be partialy eaten i lost a cory and its tail was missing. Also guppies tend to be peacefull however i have visually seen onne of my guppys attack and kill some of my fish. i removed him. If you have a quarrantine tank or another tank place him in there. if there are no more fish deaths within a fortnight you can point the finger at him. And return him to your LFS.

I don't have another tank unfortunatly, I guess I'll leave him in and keep an eye on it. Could the aggressive behaviour be because I have all male guppies, no females?

cheers

Yes. All male guppies is not recommended unless you have large number of them to help spread out the agression. You may find by stocking more males so you have maybe 7+ will help. This post in the Liverbearers foroumhas some good advice.
