we have 2 female kribs and we love them dearly we were wondering if a female can change sexes

they are behaving differently than normal,we named them laverne and shirley because we could tell right away which one was more dominant, but today shirley is being more standoffish and they were going at it like never before, just hoped it wasn't some sort of mating ritual.just to add, now lavernes' colors are very vivid and shirleys' aren't and she's hiding

i do, but they are still on my camera. the fish store warned us that kribs are aggresive when they breed and suggested we get 2 females and they look like the females i've looked at on the internet.i will get photo's on here soon.

One of the kribs may have matured and will now be wanting to breed, which would explain the change in behaviour and any aggression that is being shown towards the other female.

that makes sense. should i seperate them or wait a while and see what happens?

i have heard that kribs are little killers during the breeding process and i wouldn't want to lose any of my other fish.especially my 10 year old fire belly newt.

we've decided to seperate them because shirley is acting totally out of character.she is now in our 60 gallon tank with a black ghostknife,a polypterus,a blueberry loach, and 4 gouramis'.laverne is in our 30 gallon tank with our mollies, our swordtails, and our newt.i'll let you know how everything turns out.thanks for everyones' advice.
