It all started last night. I noticed that one of my dwarf puffer was just laying on the bottom of the tank not moving. I thought for sure he was dead so I went about the task of removing him :-( . As I went to get him he slowly began to move, not much, but just a little bit. Then right about the same time the other dwarf puffer swam up and took a big bite out of the sick one. I don't have another tank to put him in so I put him in a small cup which i floated in the tank. This morning I expected him to be dead. But he actually was still alive, but only just barely.

He floats at the top with his nose pointing up or he just lays on the bottom. What should I do, do I need to just help him along? I don't want him to suffer. If not what should I do to help him? If I should, how should I? I don't have a knife that could do, nor any of the drugs. The only thing I can think of is just a hammer (inside of a bag, obsiously). Gross, yes, but would it be better for him?

Second problem: This morning when I woke up I found one of my peppered cory cats stuck in the intake of my filter  . I quick turned off the filter and with a little bit of help he managed to get out. The back part of his body looks obviously smooshed. What should I do for him?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR QUICK RESPONSES!

One more thing about the puffer: I noticed his belly looks sunken, he's been eating fine, but it looks like he hasn't eaten in forever. Maybe some sort of internal parasite? I don't have any drugs, nor any way to quarentine him.

Thanks for y'all's help!

Sorry, I don't know what is wrong with your fish, but here is a guide:
Euthanasia, a simple guide

I am very sad to report that the puffer passed away on his own a little bit ago. :-(

Sorry scott1000 :byebye:

How is your cory doing? Sorry, I don't know what to say about him except keep the water really clean (i.e. frequent water changes) and maybe add a little Stess Coat to the water to help him heal.

The cory seems to be doing ok -_- , but he seems to be hiding a whole lot more. His body seems to have an obvious bend in it, I guess he broke a "bone" or two. Hopefully he'll do ok. I just wish there was something more I could do. I usually do water changes every day or so because it's a small tank, hopefully that'll help.

Thanks everybody for the sympathy. It's been a rough fish day...

I'm sorry you lost your Puffer :byebye:

I lost a Gouramis to something similar, my was caused by poor water. Now I have my first Nitrate test kit, and I'm glad that I have it. When I thought my water was fine it was not.

I was over-feeding my fish, and that caused my water to be not as good as it should have been.

I really loved my Gouramis ....

Good Luck with the Cory...I hope he has a full recovery.
