This may sound like a really stupid question but I have 2 Corys living in a 20 Gallon tank. I recently added Kribs to the tank and they have been picking on the Corycats. The Corycats don't seem as happy or active and I'm just looking out for them.

Would it be acceptable to move the 2 Corys to a 3 gallon tank with a Betta or is that to small of a tank for them? I was planning on putting sand in the Betta tank too for the Corys as well. FYI: one Cory is a Panda and I'm not sure what the other one is but he's probably 2 inches in length.

Hi Cal116 :)

If the kribs are acting aggressively toward the corys, it would be best to remove one or the other. Kribs have been known to peck out the corys' eyes and you don't want to take that risk. Even just the stress of being chased is hard on them.

However, a 3 gallon tank is not big enough for them. You will want to upgrade to a larger tank as soon as possible. Pandas like water cooler than you need for a betta too. It would be best if you could increase their numbers as well because they prefer being kept in a larger group. If you can post a picture of your other cory, perhaps we can help you identify it.

2 corys should be fine in a 3 gallon. if a 5 gallon can host 4 a 3 should host 2 with no problem. Just if you got a bigger tank consider moving the corys.

I wouldn't recommend putting cories in a 3 gals, they like lots of room, you would be better getting another tank for the kribs,(like inchworm said cories and kribs are a no no) and upping the cories in the 20 gal :)

Did you find out what your other cory was?

 corys will not be happy in a 3 gallon tank no matter how many are in there.....
as mentioned they enjoy open space to swim about and search for food they also like a good place to hide away from everything from time to time. they just wont be happy :/

I had cory's in a 10 gallon tank and they weren't as active, then i upgraded to a 30 gallon with a good current and they are all buzzing swimming around in the bubbles and current.
So to show it is best to leave them in the 20 gallon with a good current.
