My sunburst platy fry are dying for some reason and its making me sad. Also when can I release my 3 week old mystery platy fry into the tank

What's the size of the tank they're in & how often do you do water changes?

I'd be doing water changes at least twice a week tbh.
The tank is well big enough if you haven't loads of fry in it
As long as your mystery fry are big enough not to fit into the mouths of your other tank inhabitants they should be fine, they may chase them for a while but will soon see they can't eat them

One of the mystery platy fry survived almost 3 weeks in the community tank lol I will try next week to put them in the tank

I have to be honest, I started with platys & guppies, & at first having fry was exciting & fun to watch grow up, but after a while I realised if I saved them all, I'd be overrun with fish, & hardy any Lfs will take them.
You're best leaving them in your main tank & letting nature take it's course, if you have plenty of hiding places a few fry from each drop will survive

The local LFS said they will take the fry off my hands when they get older and develop color

You're lucky then, but they will probably only take them when they're at a saleable size, which could quite be a few months old, by which time you'll have lots of other drops, as they drop every 28-30 days

Im going to let them be born in the community tank

They may do what my local store does, the`ll take fry no problem. But they just drop them in the tank with the adults and use them as food. It`s a good way to get rid of fry but it`s sort of sad watching your fish`s babies get eaten

That"s a shame, but as livebearers drop so many fry so often if every one were saved we'd be overrun with them
