I was at my neighbors today and she has a little 2.5G with a shark of some kind.....she had 2, but one ate the other one. I hinted that the tank was too small, but she didn't get. (Also, shes 38 years older than me so...)
I wounder if this is ok? Does anyone know what it is?
Its a grey color, with black fins.......I was woundering if it was a rbt, or whatever you guys in the Agressive world call it. (I mean like, agressive tank world, I'm more of a......semi-agressive/community tank guy :) )

I forget the name, but they do NOT belong in a 2.5 gallon. The get big. I wish I could tell you how much, but I don' t know. I'm still trying to think how she managed to fit two in there...

Well, right now its about 3 inches long.......I wounder how long it'll last......she said this summer if I wanted it, I could have it. I was like "Um.........sure." So I'll get my hands on it this summer to figure where to put it, house it, ect :dunno:
Any more info on him? or even what he is?

sounds like a 2 foot monster called a black shark to me. EVIL FISH. looks like a rtbs with black fins when it is younger but rtbs get 5" black sharks get 24"

does it look like this except it has black fins?

sorry I can't edit. I just reread your post and I think it is a bala shark. i'm stupid. Grey body, not black. Yeah probly a bala

It look alot like that bala!
What am I go to do? Can you give a half grown already 1 foot monster back to the pet store??? How big will it be in 3 months?
I have not checked the water ph, or nitrate level, I know its in clean conditions, she feeds it twice a day. And it gets a good amount, but not to much sun light.
 :S

How longs it been in the 2.5g? If its been in there too long then it possibly will never reach its full length. But I think they take a while to grow, so you'd be OK with it for a while.

PS. I don't know, i'm just making intelligent guesses :)

Try to persuade to get it somthing bigger to live in, anything bigger- its already way too big for a 2.5gal tank and should never have been in one in the first place.

I would say DEFINATLY take it away weather she likes it or not, this is crualty to fish :-(

sorry, got a bit carried away :*)

Its been in the tank for about 2-3 months.

I can't steel it because a) Shes a neighbor that I like B) Shes 38 years older than me c) I just couldn't do it-no matter what.

She wants to get rid of the thing asap, but her douighter is really "attached" to it........so, well see :dunno:

Well who cares who attached she is to it, she will be even more sad when its dead because its been completly stunted in a ridiculously small tank!

Do your duty as a good fish keeper and tell them the error of their ways and either take it on yourself or find a fish shop that will take it.
