i have a 2.5g tank with two different aponogeton plants in it and i was wondering what other plants i could use. i wanted some background plants that are a little taller. i have a 10watt flourescent bulb in it, and from other threads, im thinking i could have high light plants in it? any ideas what i could add?

Two or three cryptocorynes (perhaps red wendtii?) along the back would make a nice background. Crypts are usually a fore/mid ground plant, but would work for your 2.5, I should think.

If you're looking for something different, take a look at Mayaca fluviatilis or something similar.

The thing about the "watts per gallon" rule is that it'snot so accurate for smaller tanks. so while 4wpg would be very high light for a big tank, in a small tank it would be less...i don't know if im explainging that properly cos I'm drunk on free wine.

anyway

I agree with the suggestion of cryptocoryne wendtii although im not sure if you have enough light for the red variety. get some and split the plant into a few smaller bunches and line the back wall with them, i think it would make a good background for a small tank. :) it's pretty hardy too.

thanks guys, i sort of understand the watts/gallon thing with smaller tanks. and the cryptocoryne wendtii, i'd have to check my lfs for them. i looked at online pictures and they might be a lil big for my tank.
