just brought this this

this is my 1st planted tank so its all very new to this, although i have a 5ft oscar tank this is completly different im sure.

is it worth filling it up with water from my other tank to speed up the cycling process? and can i put plants in straight away?

any other help would be great!

i could be wrong been new to this my self but put as much plant life in as you can, this will help prevent algea in the start. i would add a filter sponge to your existing tank, give it a week or two then put it in the new filter in your new tank. this will do more than water in terms of cycling your tank. also stock your tank straight away, this will give your plants the food they need to grow.

also have a read in the resource centre, it really is worth it and will put you on the right track.
