Hi

I have a 180 litre tank, it has been running for three months and two platys have been living in it for about a month and a half. They seem to be geeting on fine and amonia, nitrite and nitrate levels are good. I was just wondering what else I could add. I've been looking in my lfs and have seen some fish I like. Could anybody tell me if these will all live happily in my tank?

7 Neon Tetras
2 Marble Mollies
6 Glowlight Tetras
2 Guppys
5 Congo Tetras
5 zebra Danios
1 Red tail black shark
2 steel blue kilifish
2 cherry shrimp
2 ottos
2 platys

If anyone could tell me how these would work I'd be very gratefull. I have a feeling it may be too full if i put all of them in but I'd just like to check.

If you tank has 2 platy's in now, and only them, I wouldn't add all them fish at once, it could be an overload on the bacteria, causing ammonia/nitrate spikes. Your stocking might be abit much, but I'm not up on smaller community fish, so maybe someone else can tell you.

ok thanks I wasnt planning on adding them all at once but thanks for the warning

My recommended stocking would be

7 Neon Tetras
3 Marble Mollies (1M 2F)
6 Glowlight Tetras
3 Guppys (1M 2F)
5 Congo Tetras
5 zebra Danios
6 cherry shrimp
3 ottos
3 platys (1M 2F)

I would suggest that you remove the killifish as they aren't they easiest to care for and i believe males can be a bit aggressive, It is also better to keep a minimum of 1 male and 2 females (if not 3 females) with all livebearers so that the females don't get constantly stressed by the male. (unless you were going for 2 of the same sexed fish). I would also be wary of putting a RTB shark into a tank with ottos and shrimp, a mature shark wil 'patrol' the bottom area of the tank and i'm not sure how well he will appreciate the ottos and shrimp. There is also a chance that the shrimp may be eaten by the congo tetras if they are small,

I would also add the fish gradually in this or a similar order

platy, guppys
mollys, danios, shrimp
glo-lites, ottos
congos, neons

buy the Red tail black shark young and make sure it has a cave plant pot or something so it has a territory to defend and it will be more docile then

that does improve the chance, but it still doesn't always work,

I have a 183 litre tank with rtbs and ottos and they are fine, the rtbs has his wn plant pot and does patrol but all is well and he is a big bugger

RTBS normally can be fine up to a point then they can become aggressive and start harrassing your fish overnight, usually when they mature a bit.
