It's a shop called Lucky Goldfish. It's very good and their fish are healthy and they know their stuff, even though they can be kinda hard to understand (they are chinese) :p . They even sell snowflake discus for $40 I really wanted one but... must exercise self-control. Anyway the shop is on Broadway street. San Francisco.

go for it. discus should be kept upwards of 86 degrees, and ich won't likely survive long at that temperature.

Discus don't need to be kept at that temp. 80-86 is beneficial for them. Above 86 is just too high, IMO, and it is off the charts on most aquarium thermometers so you can't really monitor it. (Mine only goes to 86 anyway). I keep my tank at 82. Sort of a compromise between the discus and the other fish.

Some food for thought for you David...

"Furthermore, it is best not to mix discus with other species of
fish. Other fish can carry parasites which they can tolerate, but
discus can not. The most common example of this condition is
angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) and capillaria. Angelfish may
handle a case of capillaria (internal worms) without noticeable
distress. This is not the case for discus. Adding an angelfish
which appears healthy to your discus tank can result in a tankful
of discus infested with capillaria."

Hate to see discus die.

Well $12 U.S/$18 Can. isnt that great .......... no dont get them just b/c they are cheap ... Get fish you want that are healthy and you have done research on if needed ..... depending on how sick the fish are they may die soon just b/c you treat it and can't SEE the ich doesnt mean it isnt there !!!! that's poposterous

not seeing ich at 86 degrees is not the accurate description...ich doesn't tolerate temperatures above 82 degrees well.

Alot of fish don't tolerate 86+ eather !!! maybe a lone discus but in his case it wont be alone ......that is not a valid argument

Yes I already knew that. I think I'll risk it. :p Besides they had the discus and angels together at the LFS and the discus were very healthy...
