Tank water could go from 30 to 34 degrees (i think that's in celcius haha! not sure)

Well I would think so or else the poor fish are going to be stuck in a block of ice!

MOST fish are ok at higher temps. Its invertebrates and corals (especialy stony corals) that suffer high temps. Leathers can usually tough out the bigtime temperatures, but most others wont survive much over 30C

I'm sure you know this already, but hot water holds less oxygen than cold water. Now this is doubly true for saltwater. Make sure you have plenty of surface agitation.

Definitely Mr September. I used them down here in these Australian summers when my tanks get warm (30+). Now I have air con.... They do serve a purpose, but their only negative is the tremendous amount of salt creep they cause. Its just not worth it if you have decent surface agitation and volume turnover. But they are an option in high temperatures for surface agitation and water movement.
