Tank water could go from 30 to 34 degrees (i think that's in celcius haha! not sure)

I'm sure you know this already, but hot water holds less oxygen than cold water. Now this is doubly true for saltwater. Make sure you have plenty of surface agitation.
They do serve a purpose, but their only negative is the tremendous amount of salt creep they cause. Its just not worth it if you have decent surface agitation and volume turnover.
But they are an option in high temperatures for surface agitation and water movement.
