Not unusual for this. Some non-aquatic / semi-aquatic plants may seem to do well, but I will hazard a guess that it will be DOA in under 3 months..
A hell of a lot of non-aquatic plants are sold in (even good) fish shops. God knows why. If they are variaged, they are non-aquatic for starters.
I visitied a well renowed fish shoppe Maidenhead Aquatics near Wimbourne for the first time last week. Great fish I can tell you. Plants - pathetically poor. I mean really, really poor. 80% non-aquatic and covered in pond snails t'boot.
