Wow... that is some serious finnage there. I don't think I'd ever spend that much on a betta though. If I had the money... I think maybe $50 max... on a pair.

He is just....droolworthy.....

But I have to wonder, maybe Im just not knowledgeable about this part, I prefer PKs...but how does a betta with that extensive finnage actually swim?? I assume its the same as a guppy with a huge tail, poor things flail around and don't move as nature intended?

Anyone want to educate me? I'm really interested...

Thats One of Surats Giants, I have had 1 of him last year. They can swim fine without any probs

Personally I agree with you and i prefer short finned bettas as well, but the way bettas with greatly exaggerated finnage move is nowhere near as uncomfortable as the guppy equivalent. I don't have a problem with it, I just prefer shorter fins myself. They're more active, and I find, healthier.
That one though... that is a freaking stunner! Anyone remember that post about truly orange bettas? Well that's what I meant, but I'd take that beauty over a VT any day. He's amazing.

My new Yellow Gold HM is like that, as if the finnage is just too big for him. Like "weighing him down" as he keeps "sitting" on his fins. After getting my first HMPK with this delivery, I've got a thing for them over HM's as well - just so pretty!
