10gallon Stocking Help

I've been told harlequins are far too active for a 10g or else I'd get them myslelf... So, *thinks again*

5 Cories (I still want panda cories, I'm having no problems with them in my main tank)
8 phantom tetras
I think that's one of my favorite setups that I've thought of. Suggestions/opinions?

If it turns out I was misinformed and that Harlequins are okay for a ten gallon, then I might get them instead of the phantoms.

I dunno... I don't fancy bettas in tanks that much. I'd rather have them in a fish bowl. To me it seems like a little bit of a waste putting a betta in a tank... although I know it really isn't, lol. Does that make sense?

Does anybody think I'm annoying for asking so many questions? If I am, sorry  But, I have naother question. Would one bubble-eye goldfish be okay? I think they only grow to be 5 inches. Would it be lonely?

I have kept goldfish for half my life and if there's one thing I learned about them its that they are tremendously social fish. They get depressed when they don't have two things which is light and friends. A goldfish will want to be in a 10 gallon tank all alone just as much as you would want to be in a dark closet all alone.

They also get bored if not a lot of places, plants, crevices, etc to explore. Even if it would survive well in a 10 gallon, and survive alone, it would still get bored and depressed because it will not have enough places to explore and room to really swim around.

I meant to tell you that before but forgot. :look:

I really like the frogs....So... what other kind of fish, then? I don't want any livebearers... maybe a male betta? Would they get along? Or a few females? What other type of cory could I have?

if you want more fish... just get a biger tank its that simple, a 20-30 gallon isnt very big or expencive but you could eaisly have all the fish that you seem to like in those tank sizes, the fish that i like need things like 40-60 gallon so tahts what i have.

If it were me, I'd either go for a dwarf puffer or divide it for 2 or 3 bettas.

Not many fish can be happy and healthy in a 10g, not enough swimming space. I used mine for 3 bettas, and divided it with plastic canvas.

Hope you find something you're happy with. :)

How about a dwarf gourami for the top, 3 cory for the bottom and 4 endlers or other 1 inch fish for the middle. I wouldnt go too over the top with stocking as its harder to keep small tanks stable.

You know there's also zebra danios and I think someone else already mentioned white clouds. There's the small myriad of small mild tempered tetras as well.

You could even do a combo of say two small sets of fish. Don't rule that out.

I am double thinking about the goldfish because I know they are social. I still like frogs a lot. And kuhlie loaches, even though I know they aren't too active. I was thinking of bettas again as well, how many divisions? 3? I was also thinking of Harlequin Rasboras, but I was told they are too active for a 10g. Is that true?
I really would prefer getting a bigger tank, Karin. The problem with that is if I get a 20 or 30 gallon I will be stuck between getting goldfish and getting a tank with Harlequins, Kuhlies, Cories, and ADFs. Another problem is then I would need stand AND a tank. I already have a 10g and a stand for it, it was given to me by a friend.
