Hi I have my Calcifer in a 3g at the moment, I am looking to downgrade one of my tanks or generally have a better refit of them.

I have a really nice 10gallon but it is fairly tall.
The base length is 14 inches width 9and a half, height about 16 inches. Is this depth going to be too much for a betta? Also with those sorts of dimension could a divider be used and have two in their?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated. :)

Oh and lastly, he has prime place next to my partners computer and gets lots of attention, not sure his deak could take a 10g though he can sit on the desk. We would still give lots of attention but worried too much change for him..

p.s. to give idea, the tank he is in now is about 11 inches to the top of water edge, can also lower the water if necessary (would also invest in some taller plants).

Should not be a Problem for him with that height.

thanks Gill! Do you think it would be ok for two if get a divider?

Any tips how to change over? put guppies in bucket, raise tank temp for betta, swap plants over, once tank is set temp get betta in... clean cup? introduce, use cling film as temporary lid, transfer guppies from bucket to his tank?

Shouldn't be a prob to divide that.
In regards to the Swap around, Usinga bucket to put the guppies is fine. As long as the bucket has not had and cleaning chems in and has been given a good scrub.
What Temp do you have it set for the guppies as IME bettas can live in a range of temps. You do not want it too warm for them I would say between 22-24 is fine for most bettas.

The betta is at 27, the guppies pretty much ..24 room temp at the moment. Hoping the 4 gups will be ok in the betta tank. :) The buckets are only used for the fish and never ever been used for anything else :)

Was just so worried that it would be too deep and there would not be a filter for him to rest on.. will have a swap round so the live plants are in this tank until get some taller silk ones.

Well, the guppies are in a bucket, the tanks have been moved, calcifer is plugged in his usual tank on the floor for the moment and the tank he is going into is just running and making sure around 27! Thinking of using the coffee cup that I keep for water for the tanks only and hoping to scoop him up? Any tips would be great as doing shortly! This tank has a HOB which I will have to adjust when have a spare bottle next. Hope this works!
