i have 6 cardinals and a cory in my 10g right now. i was going to change the gravel from pebbles to smaller grained sand.

i wanted to add kuhli loaches, but would 3 be to many?

i really dont think so, but i dont know much about kuhlis and how much waste they produce.

btw,i have an aquaclear 30, so it has some good filtering

I would go for three more cories instead. They like to be in groups and love to mess around together.

I would go for two as they grow up to 4 inches, and you might be pushing it for a 10gal.

are they dirty fish though?

i also read they can get up to 4 inches, but 4 inches for a kuhli doesnt seem to equal the same as for an example, 4 inches of a cichlid.

I don't think bottom feeders do produce alot of waste.

I would get 1 or 2 more corys, yours is surely lonely. You can get a different species for variety, they will generally get along just fine.

lol, the thing is my cory is a loner.... well i think

there once was another peppered, (which is what he is) and 3 panda corys.

he completely ignored them.

for a while, the pandas were going crazy all over him, trying to "play", but it looked like he just tried to get away.

now they are in my 46g

i might get more corys, so hard to chose...

I personally tend to treat all this one inch per gallon with a pinch of salt.

My tank is about four times that stocking level (approx 100 fish in an 18x18x18 and I have a very low death rate (plus they spawn).

However I can only do that because of the following:

1) External filter rated for a bigger tank

2) Airstone

3) Large amount of plants

4) Regular Water changes

My nitrate level is 20-40. That and sufficient oxygen is the key.

The 1 inch per gallon is, I understand for a tank with no extras like filtration or airstones. However be aware they can cut out. I will shortly be getting a 55 gal and wouldnt leave them to go on holiday in the present tank.

I also have only swordtails, cardinals and mostly danios.

It all depends on the fish, the tank, the filtration etc.
