i currently have 15 rams and are housed in a 50g tank. i have a new 100g tank and thinking of putting them all there and hopefully a few will breed. but a friend suggested to instead buy several smaller tanks (15-20g sizes) and have 2-3 of them in the small tanks (1 males & a fwe females)

i've had the rams for about 3-4 months now and a few have displayed some pairings (i.e. digging, defending territories, etc).

i'd appreciate any comments in getting this planned breeding project on to a decent start? do you think its better to have several smaller tanks or just have the huge one with all of them. the 100g will have driftwoods and plants.

thanks!

It might be a good idea to get seperate tanks (20 gallons and upwards) for each pair as haveing them in all one tank could result in territorial aggresion and dead rams.
But always remember this.
for every pair of rams you have they must have atleast 20 gallons to themselves.
So if you wanted to keep them in a 100 gallon tank, you could have 10 fish/five pairs.
then keep 4 in the 50g and its best to give the odd one out away as it could fight/be beaten if it wants to breed with a fish from a pair.
