So, those who may remember me, im off to college this year, and i've been away from here for awhile. The predicament i have is that i can have anything 10gallons or less in my dorm. Should i just go with a space saving betta, or should i get some sort of 2 gallonish tank for something like galaxyrasboracelestailpearldanio endler and such tiny fish?

opinions please.

i was thinking a nano, but would that be too difficult to maintain while juggling classes and jobs? hmm

i'd like to do some thing that looks nice and takes up as little space as possible.

When you go under 10 Gallons the list of things you can keep really bottoms out. Bettas, shrimps and snails. Most other fish are too active to be kept in something smaller than a 10 IMO.

Another 10 Gallon suggestion...African shell dwellers. All that cute cichlid charm in cute little packages.
Here's a nice link to some different species: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/shel...ller_corner.php

Small nano or a planted tank would be nice in a dorm. If you have the money, a nice oceanic bio cube would be nice.

yup, bio cubes are really nice. if you are limited to 10 gallons and you have enough money, i would suggest getting the biocube 14 or the 8. depending on how much space you have. i dont think the biocube 14 actually holds 14 gallons so you might be able to get away with it. you probably will be able to get away with water changes every 1-1.5 weeks and you dont really have to add anything if you dont stock it too heavily and keep up the water changes.

My solution:Dont get a dorm (they suck anyway). Get an apartment and then get lots of tanks :hey:

well, you might not be able to put fishtanks in an apartment you know? and studies show that people whole dorm do better in school :good:

im in the same position as you right now  i will be moving into the dorms sometime within the next couple of months. im trying my luck on a nano biocube, or the pico, depending on what the dorm rules are

hahaha ok studies show, it all depends on the person and study habits. Just talk to me after you live in your dorm room for 6 months and then tell me they dont suck, been there done that my friend.
