10 Gallon Tank

I would say a bolivian ram or a german blue ram. They both look nice and niether have eaten my shrimp. And it depends on what else your putting in the tank.

Is that a cichlid?
Edit: I'm not so sure about those. I dont really like cichlids because they look sorta scary

I remember asking questions like these, but when it comes down to it it's really a personal choice based on what you would enjoy most. I would suggest a school of smaller fich along with some cories and maybe a bristlenose pleco. If the pleco was excluded and the school was kept small, you could also keep some livebearers, namely platies. Try not to push the envelope n how much the tank can hold, that's asking for trouble for a first timer.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't notice the part about the shrimp. They could take the place of the cories, and the fish mentioned above should do fine with them. The shrimp come dirt cheap, but many seem to die just after purchase, whle the rest live for a long time. They're kept and sold as feeders, so they don't get the best treatment in stores. Also, if you're willing to put down the extra cash, you could get one of the more colorful types of shrimp.

I would have to agree. But yes it is a cichlid.

What kind of fish to you have a preferance towards? Do you like tetras, live bearers, something odd, what are you looking for color? or personality? or idk what else but if you give us a bit more info maybe we could help.

I sort of want a cichlid but not really. I was looking into tetras but they are so normal. So coyld I get 5 neon tetras 3 ghost shrimp 1 snail( for the algae and so I don't have to worry about a pleco getting super huge) and maybe some platties?

I saw a great stocking of a 10 gallon the other day...perfect: clour, variety and yet still hardy easy fish to look after!

2 guppys
2 zebra danios
1 platy
6 neon tetras
2 otos (dwarf catfish)

I don't know much about shrimp so I can't help you there!!

I like that combination I will try it. They don't seem like they would eat any shrimp or any snails!

Danios are a schooling fish , same as neons. 10 gallons is not enough swimming space for a group, and having only 2 would not bring out their best schooling behaviour.
