10 Gallon Tank

I have heard of that before. But I was thinking about cycleing with fish. But I may look into that. Thanks!!!!! :)

Fishless cycling is a lot kinder to the fish and easier, but if u must do a cycle with fish, platties are a hard fish. In a 10g, start with 2-3, then wait 2-3 weeks before adding any other fish, give the bacteria time to multiply.
Dont forget to keep checking the water parameters.

All that said, i'd advise you to do a fishless cycle. Not only is it kinder, but also quicker. Once it's complete you can add a few more fish that you would by cycling with fish.

EDIT:
I've just seen your other post, that you also have a 29g tank? How long has this been running? You could use the filter media from this tank to seed the bacteria in your 10g.

Good idea, and thanks!!! I will do a fishless cycle. I wouldent want to be hard on the fish that was cycleing the tank. Thanks!!! :)

What country? UK or US (maybe Canada or Australia)

I'm not sure how big of a chain store Ace Hardware is, I think it is only in the US, but if you are in the US then they have a really good ammonia product called Janitorial strength ammonia, I used it to cycle my tank.

Since you have a tank up and running just put your filter on that tank to get it seeded with the benificial bacteria. While its seeding you can look around and get the rest of the stuff to outfit your tank. You can also window shop for your fish and plants.

Oh and by the way thats an adorable cat! :)
