okay I've tried to read a bunch on here but obviously Im not going to find someone planning the exact combination I am so Im asking here. My LFS said it would be fine, then I heard him turn around and sell some lady 24 plays and 10 guppies for her 10 gallon tank....that I also overheard her say she'd only had it set up for 24 hours. Obviously I dont trust what HE said.

anyway I was thinking 6 platys, 3 cory's and some kind of glass sucking algae eater since my son thinks those are cool. Suggestions for that one would be great :)

I'd probably lower the number of platys, and get all males.

For the glass sucking algae eaters, ottos are really the only option for a tank of that size. They do better in bigger tanks as all they eat is algae and rarely prepared foods. Pretty much all other plecos (and related fish) get to be at least 4" which is cramped in a 10 gal.
