well itts been 1 of them days wher everythink gose wrong when it comes to my fish tanks no deaths tho luckily)

today i got home ready to do my 47gal tank for a water change first thing that went wrong. i stood on my eletric gravel vack and crach part of it

finally fixed it then realised i put the wrong tube on it and was not long enoughrt 2 reach my gravel even with the pipe extention

so i change the tube and as i take the small tube out i spill all the water onto thre carpet out ofthe tube

so i wipe that up and carry of after alot of naughty words

start draining 10gal of water off into a big bucketget about half way and knocked the f****** bucket over so water everwher i managed 2 save half off it from goingon the carpet

after aout 20 mins i cleaned thta up and dyred it out

now im lost as to how much water i have taken out so i have 2 gess

i fill the bucket 3quaters full this time

go to clean the filter and the way the filter is all plugged in and connected i ahve 2 unl;pug it and feed the wire thru the back of the tank so i can only move the filter so far out from the tank

im trying to get the botom of the filter to get the 2 sponges out and slip pull the botom of but as i do the whole lost comes apart and the dirty filter pads fall in the wayer and make a compleate mess of the water turning it a murky brown

so i take a little more water out and clean the filter pads

go to get some more water to fill the tank back up and find out its ice cold so i gotta heat the water so i fill 3 kettle full and start the process

pour the first 2 kettle out all is going well (humm)

comes to the third and the phine rings its 1 of them people that u dont want to ring cos u cant get rid of them at thw most inconvienent times

as im on the phone and sorting the water i pour the kettle on my arm and hurt myself

finally dort all that and get rid of the phone by this time i swore more in 1 hour then i have in my life

go to put aqua safe into the water and drop a lod out by accident into the water more then i neeeded tho that aint to bad i supose

start filling up the tank again and split more water but all down me this time finally finish filling the tank turn the filter on and now it looks worse then ever as i droped the filter sponges in ther so may have to do abnouther tomorro if the filter dont sort it

    :-( :-( :-( :-( :grr: :grr: :grr:

also my advise sont talk 2 me tonight or i may kill you for no apparent reason :)

I have had those days, most of the time the come when I'm trying to convince my wife that keeping fish is a great hobby.

Last time I was trying to do a rescape/water change and soak a new piece of bog wood. I turned the water on in the sink and put the bogwood in it, then I went to the tank and began to take all the plants out and put them in a bucket with water I was getting from the tank. I got so into the tank I forgot the water was running until I heard it spilling all over the floor in the kitchen. I ran in and began to clean it up and I forgot the water was being drained from the tank into a bucket until I heard it spilling all over the carpet.

All this while my wife heard me running around cussing while trying to explain that keeping fish is not a lot of work, and can be quite fun.

 Sorry not funny but made me laugh.
Split water on the floor, and why does the phone always ring soon as you start a tank.

If you have carpets maybe want to invest in a water proof sheet.
As fish water soon makes the carpet ismell.

yeah this i will i normally out towls down to asorbe a few of the sall drops but its did not work this time :p i lagugh now i think about yesterday but i was ready 2 smash everythink up then :p

Damn that really is a bad day. I know wat u mean about the ppl that ring u on the phone at bad times and cant get rid of them :(

Boy, can I relate to water spillage. It's the main reason all but one tank is in the basement.

I had a rough week about half a month ago. Put new lines on a canister filter to extend them, secured them to the canister real good with a couple of clamps. Great idea if I would have tightened both clamps once instead of one clamp twice. It starts to siphon & fill, so I walk away. Mistake #1, it fills, gets to the output with the untightened hose clamp, then proceeds to siphon about 10 gallons out of a 55 before I notice the nice little creek flowing across the concrete. Shut it down, tighten the clamp & mop the floor.

So then I need to add 10 gallons. Start to fill with the hose, no big deal. Walk across the basement to adjust the temperature, notice the dog needs food. During this time the hose shifts & starts spraying across the top of the tank. There goes another 5 gallons on the floor. Mop again. Let’s leave water be for today.

A couple of days later, I’m letting water run a little to get to temperature to do changes on a couple of fry tanks. I have my sink set up with a Y valve, one side runs into the sink, the other to the fishroom. Well, as I’m running water the pressure seems a little low, so I turn it off, listening for water being used upstairs. Nope, no water running upstairs. :good:

So I start running the water again, smelling it as I get it warmed up, thinking there is something screwy with my local water system, and they may have jacked chlorine & such. It was local all right, located at the shutoff at the end of the hose in the fishroom, which I forgot to check. There’s another 10 gallons or so across the floor and another mop job to be done. I’m spending more time with the mop than the fish at this point, hoses are supposed to make it easier on my back. I’m considering getting a wet floor sign, though someone suggested a dry floor sign, as the floor being dry is more unusual than it being wet lately.
