1 Angel Or 2?

Angel fish have always fascinated me and id like to add them to my community tank and hopefully (i know this sounds cruel) keep my number of guppy and platy fry down. Would one be lonely? I dont want to breed them. If two is it better 2 males or 2 females? How do you sex this type of fish?

I can understand the keeping fry numbers down. It works. My angel does a marvellous job of it.
One will work on it's own, it really comes to personal preference. Sexing them is impossible. You only know you have a male and a female when they spawn! Then it takes a bit of working to find out who is who.
