1.66 Gallon Tank.

An african dwarf frog will live in the betta tank.

Cherry Shrimp or Ghost shrimp would be great in there and would go great with ur Betta.

Snails if your pH isnt acidic. I take it this tank will have a heater filter light .ect? Go for some nice snails like mahogany mts or red ramshorns(i would only get one rams horn as they breed) :good: . Though in a tank that small it would be the betta and frog, or the betta and shrimp(only a couple) and snails(can be messy so not any too big and make sur ethey dont breed). Or betta and 3 shrimp, or a betta and a few ramshorn snails.
Personally i would go for triops and snails though...but thats just me.

Ok so how bout this.

1 betta
1 cherry shrimp
1 ramshorn snail

Yes it will have a heater and filter.

I would say 3 shrimp and a snail. If you plant then it'll look really nice.

EDIT: That's a good stockcing. Nothing more though.

You should just stick with the betta, OR an african dwarf frog, OR shrimp in my opinion. The tank is small and shouldn't even really hold a betta in a first place but people still do it. And just because you have the tank doesn't mean you have to do anything with it, I know the feeling, its hard to let it sit empty! But I have lots of tanks under 5 gallons laying around the house, could always be used as a quick QT tank or hospital tank. Its just that a tank that hard is difficult to keep stable, you would have to be doing water changes atleast twice a week and I know from experience that that can stress out fish :/

I wouldn't just do one ADF or shrimp, though, because they do much much better in groups. There will be a lot of evaporation in a tank that small. As long as you do enough water changes you should be okay. I'd say every 2 to 3 days, 50%.

I agree neontetra. So either a betta or a couple of shrimp would work (2 adfs would be too much).

I don't think 2 ADFs would be too much... I think you could probably have 3 in there. It'd be better than having 1. -_-

3 adf's in a 1.66 gal?! Bearing in mind that the actual volume would be smaller anyway...three would be way too much. A tank that small has a very small bioload. Three would only work with 100% water changes daily, frogs poop alot.
I agree that 1 is not ideal, so i woulden't do it, but its better than 3. Go for the betta or the shrimp(three cherry shrimp, nothing bigger!) and snails(once again make sure they don't breed).

to be honest...
nothing.
imo bettas need 5g at least, just cuz they live in puddles doesn't mean they would perfur it. they like room to swim about.
the only livestock i owuld add is 3 cherry shrimp and 1 apple snail.
