I did water tests last night..here are the results:

Ammonia - 0
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - 0
PH - 7.5
General Hardness - Soft

Howcome my nitrates are 0??

What is your water source for water changes (tapwater, R/O water etc). Is the tank planted? How many fish do you have and what size tank is it? What kind of filtration do you use?

I use Tap Water, only h ave plastic plants with the exception of a clump of Java Moss. I have 2 filters running at the moment...a Whisper 20 and Aqua Clear 50. The tank is the one in my signature...I know its overstocked (thats why I am running both filters) but I will be moving some of the fish to a 10g soon.

It is highly unlikely that your nitrates are 0 then, either you didnt do the test correctly or the test kit is faulty/out of date. Almost all urban water supplies have levels of nitrate in them before the water is even added to the tank. Without any plants or specialised filtration to remove nitrates then i would expect your tank to have a minimum nitrate level of 40ppm and possibly more depending on your maintainance schedule.

Well I try to do water changes 1-2 times a week due to the heavy stock. I will test again though because I just bought this new test kit.
