sparse growth

I have some java moss in both my tanks, it was all purchased together but in my fry tank it's doing extremely well but in my main tank it's kinda spindly and sparse.  My question is (pictures will be uploaded) is it dead, dying, or alive but just being extremely eaten?   Pictured are two...
