I'm looking for some kind of monitoring system that will meassure eg. pH, nitrate, nitrite, temperature, tds etc.
I have a TDS meter, digital thermometers in each tank and different chemical test sets to test for nitrate, nitrite and pH. I'd really like some kind of monitor or electronic tester...
Looking at our city's most recent water report they list the following:
Avg pH 9.4, Range 8.5-9.9
Avg Total Hardness (as CaCO3) 189, Range 110-282 ppm
Avg Total Alkalinity (as CaCO3) - 96, Range 47-138 ppm
The scale the website where I buy fish from lists the KH (which I believe is the...
Ok, first off is it ‘corys’ ‘cories’ or ‘corries’ when discussing multiple corydoras??? My websearches have been conflicting and I’m curious if there’s a generally accepted ‘correct’ way?
Secondly- what is the ideal tank alkalinity for these little guys? I haven’t found a concrete answer for...
i have two betta males in separate 5.5 gallon tanks. Both tanks tested high for alkalinity and slightly high PH. I know a ph swing can be harmful so how can i lower the alkalinity (and in one case soften the water) without drastically affecting the pH level?
My kH has been a problem for a good long while now. Unfortunately the tap water in my area has very low kH, based on both internet resources and my own testing on multiple occasions. The highest I've ever gotten it is 1 or 2, which is equal to what comes out of the tap.
To increase my kH...
I contacted my local water provider and recieved some information about our local water supply that I use for my fish tank.
I attached a small section of what they sent me.
Would someone help me understand what these values mean and how they apply to general hardness/alkalinity requirements...
