Not sure if this will work but here is Pemier Aquatics live plant unboxing.

    Discus Fish Choices

Interesting that they live in pairs. I thought they lived in groups and preferred to be kept in larger groups.

    Discus Fish Choices

Would you maybe advise buying them as a smaller size in a group of say 12 and as they grow thin that down to a group of 7? Couple of males and remainder female?

Some excellent feedback for me there thanks. I’m somewhere between an 8x2x2 or reusing a 6x2x2 I currently have which if I’m honest I’m leaning towards the smaller aquarium. Gives me some food for thought as even in the smaller tank I thought I would be ok. Maybe I need to just consider one...

What do you define as a huge tank. I have read lots of conflicting advise on stocking density. I know the average rule thrown around is 1 per 10g.

My LFS is doing just fine with plants and he does post. Top guy who branched out on his own after working the aquariums at Chester Zoo for a number of years. You can find him on Facebook and has his own website. Premier Aquatics, top fella Ste is too.

Looks a very interesting setup. What have you got stocked?

Sorry may have caused confusion. I’m not looking for keeping advise as such more around any opinion on stocking just the 3 groups versus a broader mix. Yes they are all discus.

So looking at my plans around potential stocking. I have room for 15 fish and I think rather than overly mixing them In going to go for 3 groups of 5. Red Melons Blue Turks Golden Checkerboards Anyone see any issue with this or have thoughts around other options?

    Red Plants

Yeah no red your right. I’m not likely to go high end to be fair. My main focus is going to be some nice discus but I do want a natural backdrop to them. I’m happy with plants that don’t demand too much providing they colour and grow well to give a nice natural feel to tank.

    Red Plants

I’m sidetracking here sorry but Kyle mentioned my light being unsuitable. I’ve checked the data sheet for the LED used in the white channel and it is either 6000k or 6500k. I’m guessing this would be adequate and not too blue as that is on another channel. From what I can see plants will grow...

    Red Plants

Yes I will be dosing fertiliser and started to pick up there is the balance with light intensity and Co2 to be found. Still trying to get my head around it all. For whatever reason I had started to pick up that red plants are likely too tricky in a low tech setup and need the addition of Co2...

    Red Plants

I know it aids all plants but assumed the red benefited from a colour perspective.

    Red Plants

I thought the use of Co2 helped to encourage a strong colour and growth in red plants? Have I picked that up wrong?
