    What does "pearling" mean?

Hey Folks, I've seen some references on the internet to "pearling" being a good indication of healthy plants in a planted tank. Was wondering what that meant, can't find a definition anywhere. Thanks!

Thanks cichlidmaster... BTW, is Lamprogine a word? If it is does it encompass both genus' Lamprologus and Neolamprologus?

    L. meleagris and L. speciosus... same?

I recently picked up a trio of Lamprologus meleagris from my lfs. I've been doing some research, and it seems like meleagris and speciosus might be the same fish? It's so confusing to keep up with constantly changing taxonomy, I was wondering if anyone knew if they were the same species, or...

    Panting fish

Be careful when you treat your loaches for white spot, they're pretty sensitive to medications... most recomend that you only use half the normal dosage for scaleless fish. My father killed a couple of beautiful 9+" clown loaches that were in his 125 gal when he treated the tank for ich.

    J. dickfeldi

Here's a photo from my 20 gal long mini tang. biotope. Most of the tanks residents are shellies (lamprologis and neolamprologus), but I have a pair of J. dickfeldi. They're by far the largest inhabitents in the tank, but also the most peaceful so far.

    Curious about Cichlids

Would like to qualify what I meant by "community tank", I have a pair of p. pulcher in a general community tank... it's not limited to cichlids. Currently it has 3 mollies, a school of tetras, a school of tiger barbs, a few yo yo loaches, and a few ottocinclus. My kribs have staked out a small...

    Curious about Cichlids

I'm pretty new to cichlids myself, so I hope you'll take my experience for what it's worth. My experience so far is that easy and beginner suited fish is all relative. Many cichlids can deal with a variety of water conditions, stability is the most important factor as their native environment...

    PH for Kribs

My pH was same as yours, 7.6... Mine were fine except I couldn't get them to breed. I lowered the pH over the course of a week to 7, and last night I noticed eggs (and all the other fish in the tank in the opposite corner :P ).
