Amazingly, he seemed fine this morning. Does this sound possible: When eating, he swallowed some air when he went up for a flake, and basically had air in him, and as we all know, air floats.
I don't quite get what you mean by the tank stats mean nothing unless you get it treated straight away! I am already doing water changes every other day.
I did get a little pea in him, but he couldn't catch them as they dropped, so he didn't get too much.
I'm actually proud of my self, the highest the ammonia and nitrite got were .75 and those were brought back down very quickly with water changes. My dechlorinator also neutralizes ammonia and...
After a heater disaster in my tank, I had to re-start everything and decided to go for 2 gold fish. The tank is currently cycling, ammonia 0, nitrite 0.5 and is getting water changes every few days. It is a 40 gal tank.
Earlier this evening, both fish were swimming fine, and after feeding...
are you sure about the pH reading? i have an api test kit as well, and the pH scale on mine (and what i can fin on the internet) only go to 6.0.
Taking out bogwood will help because bogwood lowers the pH
Random thought - is running to Walmart an option? Since it is something unknown, It may be better to isolate the fish, atleast until you have identified what it is and what an appropriate treatment will be.
This is definitely in the weird category, i have absolutely no clue what this is...
Is there any chance something got in the water? many fish gasping at the surface often means problems with the water quality.
Alternatively, are the fish scratching on objects in the tank?
Unfortunately, this story has a sad ending. Tonight in one of his crazy periods, he jumped out of the small hole between the filter and the hood. When I found him, he was not struggling at all, and barely breathing, so I have euthanized him. :rip:
It sounds like you are doing everything right. Your nitrates aren't too high, you are limiting the light. My guess on why you suddenly had the bloom is the extra light and nutrients avaliable in your tank since removing some of hte moss, so the algae too over.
I don't have that specific medicine, but i do have General Cure by API. PraziPro's active ingredient is Praziquantel, and General Cure's active ingredients are praziquantenel and metronidazole. The general cure will have a slightly smaller concentration (2 mg/L compared to 2.5 mg/L), but I...
The betta tank is all i have. I think he will be getting dipped in some anti-parasite meds tonight. I don't want to leave him in something so small, since he is an opaline gourami. (about 5")
I was searching and found this online
Thanks for trying.
He just did it again. This time i didn't get up fast enough to knock on the glass, so he hit the glass and is on the bottom again. This is getting freaky. If i can't figure it out soon, I think he may be euthanized, simply because I do not want this spreading to all my...
From the original post, I believe that the fish died within 12-18 hours. That means a disease has to infect, incubate (grow to the point of visible symptoms) and kill a fish. Also, I think it is safe to assume the fish came home looking healthy, or was incubating the disease. This leads to...
Update: tonight he started to do the same thing again, very random, odd swimming. I didn't see the RTBS anywhere near him at the time either. I went over and knocked on the glass, and it got him to stop before injuring himself. This is getting wierd.
