I've got a Juwel Rio 240, great tank   I bought it 2nd hand off ebay   You can get some really good quality 2nd hand tanks for much cheaper than the price which they sell them for at shops (hundreds less)   Be careful though, you dont want to buy a 2nd hand tank which is damaged

  So you say that a Salvini will do well in the tank but not a Firemouth?   But Salvini's grow slightly larger than firemouths and are much more aggresive, so I don't see why a Firemouth would need so much space...and surely not a 2 metre tank.....   Rams are too small for my liking   Yellow...

You could keep a max of 6 Discus in that size tank, but they'd have to be by themselves

   I can tell that you like your fish :o   However, I'm no beginner lol, just new to the forums :)   I've already got a 53g and a 20g tank running, right now I'm looking for a centrepiece fish for the 53g, particularly a largish cichlid with personality 

Bear in mind that the actual output of APS filters is greatly reduced once you've inserted all the filter media.   Nevetheless, APS is the way to go, crystal clear, pure water for such a bargain, why spend more?   You wont need the uv steriliser, thats more useful for marine tanks, and it breaks...

I'm wondering if a fully grown gold severum would do well in a 4ft long 240 litre tank with perhaps a large shoal of tiger barbs and a group of bengal loaches as tank mates?   Would like to hear from people who have owned severums themselves; are they active? what level in the water do they swim...

Yoyo loaches grow to an average maximum size of 6 inches, if your tank is long, then they should do okay. They need a long tank as they are very active fish.   They prefer the company of their own kind, so if you do get them, it is recommended that you get around 4-5   I own them myself, and I...
