  Any chance that this is not an 'inert' gravel, but some sort of crushed coral, or similar?   Any other things that you think COULD be affecting the hardness or pH?     Next question:  when you tested the pH of the tap, was that after sitting for 24 hours?     No definitely just normal gravel...

  White aquarium gravel from pet's at home in the UK, never seen this in my tank before until I did a full water change a few days ago.

  Yes I have a gold dust molly and a white molly, they both look like their belly's are quite big too.. but not as big as the black one.   No, should I?

  Thank you for the reply. Just tested the tap water and the tap water has a PH of around 6.8. The KH from the tap water has dropped to 15. The GH is still around 21.   Does this mean something in the tank is causing the PH to be high? I don't have any rocks, only gravel and an ornament. 

Hello all.   I spotted my black molly in the tank today and his belly seems to be bloated. I have no clue if it's a male or female but the stomach was not like this a few days ago.     Replies appreciated! 

  I have just been to the lfs and got a test set, £17.99 for 50 strips..  my GH is basically of the scale at about 21, so is the KH at 20 and the PH is around 8.0!   Any ideas on what I should do? I have guppies, mollies, tetras in the tank.

  Don't have any test kits right now so going to the shop in the morn to get one. dechlorinator was used. Water was syphoned out while the fish were kept in an external tank with the syphoned water. New water was added and the tank was dechlorinated immediately. Left it for a little while and...
