How easy is this to do?
I unplugged my external filter, removed 90% of the water to plant the tank, refilled and plugged the filter back in but forgot to add aquasafe until 30 mins later. Would I have killed all the beneficial bacteria?
Morning all,
I had an old drop checker that was supposed to be filled with a few mils of tank water then 2 drops of the reagent. I've set up a new tank and bought some bromothymol blue.
I have only put bromothymol blue in my drop checker (the same few mils that was supposed to be filled with...
I like the idea of a spalsh of colour the rummy noses would offer but I just can't take to the minnow looking fish. I've had green barbs before but after looking at the colour the rummy noses offer I was thinking of odessa barbs but then I've read they like the botton of the tank where the rtbs...
Do you measure the amount of co2 either through PPM or a drop checker? Even if you do and all your stats are fine algae can be problematic for even the most advanced aquarists. There are a few fish species that eat hair algae (or shrimp) could you introduce these into your tank? Or replace...
Hello All,
My new 200 Litre tank is currently cycling and is an upgraded tank to house a Red Tailed Black Shark. I'm going to try a bit of aquascaping so the tank will be planted (co2 injection) but I'm unsure what else to stock it with.
I want a nice school of fish so I'm thinking dwarf...
Are you sure? Contaminate the water with what, more water? I've had no problems and no changes to any of my water stats by doing this. In saying that I do have good filtration
I'm trying to get ideas for an aquascape which will house a red tail black shark. I've got some redmoor root soaking but I want to incorporate more caves, nooks and crannies. I don't want any artificial caves so I was thinking of the following idea, would it work?
On one side of my tank...
My fish sometimes leave it a week before eating, as mentioned above it's only water so no issues with polluting the water - put a screw in the bottom to weigh it down.
Rain water can be slightly acidic but if you get your chemistry right you can use it. However, have you thought about how you will top your tank up in the summer when rain water is not available? Because you really want to maintain consistency with the water you put in a tank
Sorry I seemed to have Hijacked your thread, but the topic is still the same. I want to prevent cruelty so if I can get the correct fish before stocking then we should be happy.
Also I have a red tailed black shark (which will be the only other fish in my tank) so was a bit reluctant to put...
Is keeping Boesmani rainboews in a 200L 39 Inch tank Cruel, I keep getting different advice. I'd like 10 but would go down to 6. Or do I need to resort to a different species?
