Hanna marine pH tester with freshwater

I use Hanna test kits for my reef tank and am very pleased. I would like to get some Hanna kits for freshwater, but all of the testers on their site are geared toward swimming pool tests. Does anyone know if the Hanna marine pH tester is accurate for freshwater as well? I have compared it to...

    Macroalgae?

Interesting. It must have come with the driftwood, but that piece has been in the tank for a couple of months. There has never been any Java moss in there. Bonus! Thanks for the replies.

    Macroalgae?

I'm not sure what this is growing on this piece of driftwood (see arrow). I looks vaguely like a type of macroalgae you would find in a reef tank refugium. My algae eaters and snails don't bother it. My nitrates stay very low, but there doesn't seem to be enough of this to contribute to that. It...

    Albino?

I was just surprised when I got him. I like his coloring better than the wild version. It was a pleasant surprise.

    Albino?

I bought a Chinese algae eater from Flip. He doesn't have the coloring I expected, but his fins and body are the right shapes. I'm wondering if he's an albino. That would be great because I have an albino bristlenose pleco.

Live plants in a quarantine tank

The fish are small. The rams are about 3/4 inch and the angels are about 1 1/2 inch. I'm doing big water changes every couple of days. 50%.

Live plants in a quarantine tank

Hello everyone. I hope you're having a nice Sunday. I'm wondering what opinions are on putting live plants in a quarantine tank. I have a 10 gallon tank where I am quarantining two veiled angels and two blue rams. The tank is bare bottom with a couple of PVC fittings for hiding places. I have...

Getting a Bristlenose pleco from Maidenhead aquatics

I got an albino bristlenose from PetCo (US big box store). He was about a half inch long and was in a tank by himself. It was obvious that they took good care of their tanks. They had a saltwater section, which is a bit unusual for a big box chain store. The saltwater tanks were crystal clear...

    Hello There

Hello everybody. I've been in the hobby off and on for over 50 years. During that time, so much has changed. When I start new tanks, I find myself way behind. This forum looks like a wonderful source of expertise. I'm glad I found it. I currently have a 36 gallon freshwater planted tank set...
