  At the moment my Ammonia is 0ppm after 24-hours & my Nitrites are 0ppm after 48-hours. Do you think I should put a lot less Ammonia in next time they're both low enough until they are both reading 0ppm within 24-hours?

My tank is very close to being cycled. My question is, how do I go about keeping it cycled if I'm adding shrimp/snails BEFORE my fish. Will their waste keep it cycled or will I still need to add a small dose of ammonia every other day until I add the fish?   Thanks,

Lovely tank! :) Is your Betta okay with the shrimp? I've been considering shrimp for my new tank but people keep telling me that snails would be better due to Betta aggression.

Well, I'm not too sure at the moment. I would prefer to add shrimp over snails but I am concerned that the Betta will make a meal out of them. People who I work with who keep Betta fish have told me they have had much better luck keeping snails, so maybe that's the direction I need to be going...
